The Literacy Coalition provides literary resources and services to the residents of Howard County
We are dedicated to improving the basic literacy skills of our friends, relatives, and neighbors throughout the county.
Established in 1988, The Literacy Coalition has evolved into a free-standing 501(c)(3) organization. The majority of our funding is received through private donations and grants.
Programs
FasTrack
For advanced learners who are preparing to take their High School Equivalency Assessment test. In the past this was know as the GED test in Indiana. Beginning in 2014 it is the TASC test. Our staff is up to date in transitioning our students to the new test and expectations. We also help students prepare for other tests such as employment of the written driver's exam.
Pathways
For adults who want to improve their basic literacy skills. This can include grammar, math, spelling, computer, reading comprehension, and a variety of other needed skills.Instruction methods include one to one, small groups and computer assisted education.
Connect
For adults learning to speak English. If you know someone who is needs help learning to speak, write, or read English Connect is for them We offer one to one tutor led instruction as well as small group opportunities for learning.
