Want to make a difference?

Updated: Jan 12, 2022

The challenge…

Low-skilled adults are:

2X more likely to be unemployed.

3X as likely to live in poverty.

4X as likely to suffer from poor health.

8X as likely to be incarcerated.

Low education and skill levels of adults are a fundamental barrier to every major challenge facing the United States, including early childhood education, education reform, economic development, and improving the health and well-being of the nation's families and communities.

Our volunteer tutors are a part of the answer. They spend about 90 minutes a week working one-to-one with adults to improve their basic literacy skills, learn to speak English, or preparing to take exams that can literally change their lives.

You can be a part of changing someone’s life. Volunteering at the Literacy Coalition can make that kind of difference.
